Visit to Empire Optical
Apr 19, 2010:
Earlier this year I travelled to our optical lab in Los Angeles for a site visit. Empire Optical has been in business for decades and it was a very interesting tour.
Many people would be amazed at what goes into making prescription lenses. It is a very technical and complex process and if quality control is not followed can lead to poor manufacturing which in turn can lead to poor lenses for the consumer.
Empire Optical has a crack team of experienced employees who know how to grind in prescriptions properly to lenses. Additionally they have very experienced staff members handle more complex tasks such as drill mount frames where slight error can force the lenses to be rejected.
Most impressively was the Anti-Reflective (A/R). A/R lenses are becoming more and more commonplace yet the consumer is unaware of what goes into the process. The process requires complex machinery, a mixture of chemicals and must be performed in clean conditions. One speck of dust can ruin an entire batch of lenses. Companies such as Zeiss and Essilor check the quality daily through remote processes to ensure that patients are getting the absolute best.
It is important to know that when purchasing premium lenses that you are getting a high quality, high value product. By visiting Empire Optical I can attest that patients at Milauskas Eye Institute are receiving exactly that.
Welcome to the new Milauskas Eye Website
Dec 1, 2009:
With the growth of the Milauskas Eye Institute over the past few years, including the opening of our newest office in Palm Desert, we realized we had outgrown our web site. We hope this new web site will provide even more useful information and tools for you and make your online visit with us more enjoyable.
We have also striven to make the information contained in our pages easier to get to. As we move forward we invite your feedback. You are the most important aspect of Milauskas Eye Institute and we would love to hear your comments (be they praise or constructive criticism) on our site and your experience of it.
