Albert T. Milauskas
Founder and Medical Director
Dr. Albert T. Milauskas founded the Milauskas Eye Institute to provide the
highest quality eye care to its patients. Since its creation, the Milauskas
Eye Institute has become the premiere eye care practice in the Coachella Valley,
providing the most experienced doctors and most advanced technology in the
field.
Dr. Milauskas has been at the forefront of advances in ophthalmology during the last three decades. He helped pioneer Intraocular Lens Implants for cataract surgery in the 1970s. He was among the first ophthalmic surgeons in the country to learn and use phacoemulsification in cataract surgery in the 1980s, which revolutionized the procedure.
In 2002, Dr. Milauskas became the first ophthalmologist in the Coachella Valley to acquire the new SLT laser for glaucoma treatment. This has allowed some patients to reduce or eliminate some of the medications they take to treat glaucoma.
Dr. Milauskas also has helped lead the way in refractive surgery. In 1999, Milauskas Eye Institute became the first (and is still the only) ophthalmology practice in the Coachella Valley with a permanently installed Excimer laser. Now, Dr. Milauskas has become the first surgeon in the valley to have and use the Intralase laser which allows for "all laser lasik" which takes refractive surgery to higher levels of precision and safety.
Dr. Milauskas remains committed to excellence in eye care. With a team of some of the best ophthalmologists and optometrists in the country, he ensures that patients of the Milauskas Eye Institute receive the best possible care. He is also dedicated to providing the most advanced technology so that patients can benefit from the advances in eye care. He remains steadfast and uncompromising in making sure patients have access to the best care possible.
