Dr. and Mrs. Milauskas Honored
Dr. and Mrs. Milauskas were honored by the Guide Dogs of the Desert for their commitment to the community and to the Guide Dogs of the Desert.
At the Agua Caliente Resort on Saturday, December 10, Dr. and Mrs. Milauskas received the "Heroes of the Year" award. It was a moving ceremony that recognized both of them for the good they've done in the field of Ophthalmology as well as local philanthropy.
Through a variety of fundraising endeavors Dr. and Mrs. Milauskas and MEI staff have raised enough money to name eight puppies for the Guide Dogs of the Desert. The results of these efforts are now being realized as the first puppy named (Dolce) has graduated as a guide dog and is now helping her new owner have a life with more freedom and mobility.
Dr. and Mrs. Milauskas are extremely honored and humbled by this award. Dr. Milauskas said "It is important to give back to the community that has been so good to us. We are very happy to support such a great local organization and will continue to do so. We look forward to our next golf tournament in October 2012 to be our most successful yet!"
