No More Blades!
MEI
has always striven to be on the cutting edge
of ophthalmic technology. We are extremely pleased,
therefore, to be the only ophthalmic practice
in the desert with its own on-site Intralase system.
With
this breakthrough technology, laser vision correction
can now be performed without any blades at all.
For the patient, this means predictably better
vision, and a procedure that is uniquely safe
and uniquely precise.

Vision Breakthrough
Dr. Albert Milauskas is one of the first ophthalmic
surgeons in the country to use the AcrySof©
ReSTOR© Intraocular Lens Implant.
Milauskas Eye Institute is proud to
offer this breakthrough technology.
The AcrySof© ReSTOR© intraocular lens (IOL) is
an artificial lens used in cataract surgery
for patients with and without presbyopia. The
unique patented optic design results in highly-predictable
visual acuity results, meaning patients
can read the font on items such as prescription
bottles, magazines, newspapers and computer screens,
while also providing the ability to see items
at a distance independent of reading glasses
or bifocals.
Read about this breakthrough IOL on the Cataract page.
Welcome
Welcome to Milauskas Eye Institute! When I founded
this practice in 1980 it was to create the most
progressive and caring eye care center in the
desert. It has always been our challenge to bring
the best physicians, surgeons, staff and technology
to our patients. Our goal is and always will
be to do our best to improve and preserve a patient's
sight.
Our practice has grown to be by far the largest
ophthalmology center in the desert—proof
of our ability to provide quality medical care
to our patients. That is why we have emphasized
quality staff and technology. I truly believe
that our staff of doctors is without question
one of the best in the country. Please take some
time to browse this site and learn about our
practice.
Milauskas Eye Institute specializes in many
areas of ophthalmology and eye care.
It is our goal to continue to bring our patients
the latest in technology and surgical innovations.
The new millennium brings many promising advances
in ophthalmology, and with it the hope that many
of the most vexing eye problems may be solved.
I am honored that you have entrusted us with
your care. I hope that we continue to earn that
trust in the future as we have done with so many
other patients.
Albert T. Milauskas, M.D.
Welcome
Recently there has been much media coverage about the FDA looking into the safety of the LASIK procedure. By any measure LASIK is a safe and effective procedure and has changed millions of people's lives for the better. However, LASIK is still surgery and carries a measure of risk, even if it is very small. On very rare occassions complications do occur, most are minor and are resolved successfully.
At Milauskas Eye Institute we are concerned first and foremost with the safety of our patients. That is why we have invested in the best, most modern equipment to ensure our patients safety. We were doing all laser lasik years ago because we believed the technology was a significant upgrade in safety. We have the most modern Wavefront and Excimer laser on the market, the Wavelight Allegretto.
We also have a staff of expert surgeons, doctors and staff to ensure patients safety is maximized. Having performed thousands of successful LASIK procedures our staff is experienced in providing the best care to patients. We also want to make sure our patients are well informed when they make the decision to have lasik surgery. Patients go through a very thorough informed consent process so that they feel comfortable with the decision to have LASIK. They are encouraged to ask questions and be comfortable with their decision.
If you have any questions about LASIK please call our offices at 760-564-3887 and ask to speak to Brian Bowen. He will be happy to discuss any concerns you have on this topic.
